Welcome to a route with more than 5,000 km of  hiking trails. A route that blurs a line between a pilgrim and a tourist. Long-distance marked trails connecting the major pilgrimage sites in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Italy, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Greece and Turkey and lead through the territory where Constantine-Cyril and Methodius probably travelled to Great Moravia in the 9th century.

The trails of the Cyril and Methodius Route refer to the cultural roots of the Slavs associated with the arrival of the Thessalonian brothers, Saints Cyril and Methodius, in Great Moravia.

Poland

The trail passes through two important pilgrimage sites in Poland, i.e. Czestochowa and Krakow, and brings us to Wisla.

Czech Republic

The trails leading to Velehrad from five directions, e.g., from Jablunkov, Skalka near Trenčín, Šaštín, Levý Hradec near Prague or from Svatý Kopeček.

Slovakia

Both trails follow the marked trails of the CM Route in the Czech Republic and thus connect important Cyril and Methodius and Great Moravian centres.

Austria

The route leads through the typical Austrian countryside, through mountains and lowlands, around the famous lakes.

Italy

The trail could be divided into two parts. The first part leads from the north to Rome and the second part south to Bari.

The trail starts in the port city of Durres and continues east to the state border with Northern Macedonia near Lake Ohrid.

The trail starts at the state border with Albania and continues around Lake Ohrid further east to the border with Greece.

The trail starts at the border with the North Macedonia and continues to Thessaloniki and around the Aegean coast to the border with Turkey.

The trail starts at the border with Greece and continues along the coast of the Sea of Marmara and ending in Istanbul.
