Hillfort Mesciská
The hillfort is famous for its mass find of iron objects, which belongs to the advanced Great Moravian period from the second half of the 9th century. There are two separate settlements in close proximity to the settlement of Riedka, where a number of sherds from the Great Moravian period, as well as from the Púchov culture, have been found. The name of the hillfort probably comes from the designation “two great towns” (settlements), because they are two fortified settlements built over the confluence of the White and Strážovský brooks. You will find here distinctive and well-preserved ramparts.
It is a fortification of a rocky limestone promontory at the confluence of the Mojtínský and Strážovský brook, on which the Riedka solitude is situated. It takes the form of two closed ramparts separated by a deeper ravine. The terrain is about 20-25 metres above the level of the streams. The inner area is covered in a small part by forest and mostly by meadows. According to the explorers’ survey, the castle system covers an area of about 2.6 ha (2.03+0.58 ha). Distinctive and well-preserved mounds are located on the edges of the plateau above the steep slopes. The southern rampart of the larger fortification is of monumental proportions.

According to historical materials from the Nitra Bishopric, it is stated that the brothers Melicher and Baltazár Šeffranovics had a chapel built on the site of today's church as early as in the 14th century.

There is a natural treasure hidden in the underground near the village of Pružina, which helps to cure respiratory diseases. It is even one of the oldest caves in Slovakia. It is believed to have been formed about 10 million years ago. The so-called Christmas Hall, whose ceiling is made up of hundreds of snow-white stalactites, is considered to be the local jewel.
